Western Rye Steam Deck & Controller Support Status
The developer reports Western Rye runs well on Steam Deck, while SteamDB records full controller support. Valve Deck verification is a separate question.

Does Western Rye work on Steam Deck?
The strongest current public answer is developer-reported support. In a July 25 Reddit reply, Nixalon Studios said the game runs on Steam Deck and emphasized optimization for handheld play. An earlier developer thread also mentioned handhelds such as ROG Ally and MSI Claw.
We have not converted that into a claim that the game is Valve Verified. Valve’s compatibility badge is a separate status and should only be reported when Steam itself displays it.
Controller support
SteamDB currently records full controller support for the app. The developer has also said controllers were considered with future console ports in mind.
What to verify after release
The launch build still needs real checks for:
- default graphics preset and frame pacing on Steam Deck,
- text readability and controller glyph consistency,
- horse and inventory controls,
- suspend/resume behavior,
- co-op performance on handheld hardware.
Older demo feedback reported controller and horse-control friction, so those demo-era complaints are not assumed to represent the August 25 build.
