Western Rye entered Steam Early Access on August 25, 2026 at 13:00 UTC. Steam’s store page independently confirms that date. The launch is PC-first on Steam for Windows. A July developer reply described consoles as a later goal, not a launch platform.

What launched?
The Early Access statement says the core game includes single-player and multiplayer, character customization, horse riding, western firearms, an expansive desert, populated and abandoned settlements, NPCs, mining caves, enemy variants and a few bosses.
Nixalon’s own Day 3 letter called the launch rough and said the studio is patching from reviews and player reports. Day 1–3 notes already cover story blockers, co-op invites, pickups, furniture moving, loot/recipe rebalance, audio and display issues. See the Early Access roadmap for the patch list.
Still unpublished
Exact resource coordinates, quest-object pins, money routes, recipe costs, loot tables and boss drops are still not listed here. Day 3 even rebalanced loot and recipes, so pre-launch numbers would be the wrong thing to copy.
